It serves it's purpose, isn't too big or small, and is pretty powerful so I don't have to put things on for 5 hours just to get it heated. At first I did find it a little strange that when you press a number it automatically starts for a specific amount of time (i.e. press 1 for 1 minute, 2 for 2 minutes, 3 for 3 minutes, etc.). All you have to do to put in the amount of time you want is press the "POWER" button on the microwave and then enter the desired amount of time. I haven't used all the functions such as defrost but my mom has the same microwave and uses these functions all the time and is pleased with it. I do use the potato function and think it's pretty neat. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Emerson MW8997B 0.9Cu.Ft. 900 Watt Touch-Control Microwave Oven, Black (Kitchen) I've owned this product for a little over a year and haven't had any problems with it. It's big enough to hold a bag of popcorn or a large dinner plate, although sometimes larger, square items catch on a side and don't rotate due to the smaller size of this unit. The only thing I don't like is that, as another reviewer mentioned, the interface is different than other microwaves -- instead of entering the time and pushing "start" you have to push the "power" button, then enter the time. (To adjust power, you need to keep pressing the power button to get the level you want). The automatic defrost, frozen vegetable, and beverage functions work well also. After about 2 years, the heating element would kick in and out randomly (you can hear a strange noise). Now when the door is opened it trips the breaker, and I have to goto the basement to switch it back on. Pretty bad considering the previous microwave lasted 8+years, and the one before 8+ years. |
