I had a friend who worked for GE as a manager and he told me that in their washers they'd gladly ditch a part that might make it last longer if it cost a nickel. I guess I should have taken that message to heart.
We bought this microwave three months ago. Were a little hasty about it because our Samsung had died and we needed a replacement quickly. Well what an awful mistake to buy this GE.
First, it looks okay, but looks don't matter if it dies on you after only 180 days. But here's my list o' complaints:
-- It frequently made the circuit breaker flip. We've never had that problem before we got this GE product, and in fact it did it again when it died.
-- The popcorn feature was off. We had to fool around and find out what the actual time was.
-- The little feet on the bottom were cheap and left black marks on the counter top.

I bought this GE because the salesman said they are a good brand. The microwave looks good, but it is way too loud! There is vibration and you practically have to yell when you are in the kitchen and it is on! I had an older model Sharp and it is much quieter than this one, although there are problems with the clock on it. I will be returning the GE and probably get another Sharp or something else!

We've returned two defective GE microwave ovens model JES1142 in the past month. Both had bad motors driving the turntable, so that with food or without, the turntable would start and stop, making grinding noises. We thought the first was just a one-time problem so exchanged it for another of the same model, and it had the same problem. If I could give the GE no stars I would but apparently I must give it at least one. Makes a good doorstop, maybe. Guy at the store said they have better reports on Sharp than GE so we went with a more expensive Sharp. So far so good.
This deluge of crappy Chinese products is too much. For us it's nearly an hour each way to get to the store, so now we are at 3 trips for one microwave.
