I purchased this because it matched my new GE range, (which is fantastic). Starting out I tried to defrost a piece of beef, but I guess I opened the door before being told and it totally stopped and told me I would have to have it serviced. NOT...so I read the book and learned how to reset the thing. Then I wanted to make rice (all along believing the micro came with a rice bowl) but as directed I purchased the recommended Norticware rice and vegie steamer. So, following the microwaves directions, I pushed the steam button and the the rice button twice for brown rice and it said it would cook for 9 minutes. I knew this wouldn't work, so I canceled it thinking I did something wrong and started again. Same thing, so I thought ok I will try it....Starting with the rice steamer vent open and then when the microwave prompted to close the vent I did. I had to do this 3 times to get the rice cooked and then it wasn't fluffy it was still semi hard.
