What really upsets me is that our new Kitchenaid Microwave KHMS2040WSS-0 only lasted 2 months before the magnetron blew up. The previous reviewer's lasted 6 months. Three times as long!

Boy am I sorry I didn't read his review before I bought my own piece of crap. Beautiful on the outside but blew up in my face.

Our previous microwave, a run-of-the mill GE, was still working after 19 years. But nooooo, I had to have a pretty one.

Kitchenaid's Warranty is a huge scam. This lovely piece of do-do has been sitting on my family room floor for the last month. The repair tech showed up, and could not take it off the wall to test it, look inside it, etc. My husband had to help him pull it off the wall and there it sits. The tech, from Domenco, had no parts with him and lots of excuses why it was necessary to perform service calls without repair parts. Installed 7-24-2010. Magnetron failed in six months. Are you kidding me? $500 mocrowave that can't have a magnetron last more than six months? Junk. Pain in the butt. Dont' buy it. Look for something else. Yeah it looks nice. But only if you don't care about heating any food with it.

About three years ago we updated our kitchen and got all new KitchenAide appliances - big mistake:
The Microwave has had issues with some of the controls and now it doesn't work at all
The Dishwasher does not do a good job of cleaning dishes
The Refrigerator door does not stay closed, the ice maker broke again and the plastic fixtures on the lights have melted
The oven range has had the motherboard go out on it and the hinge broke - luckily, those were covered under warranty

Don't let the price fool you, they are just glorified Maytag products, which also are poor quality.
