I have a MagicChef microwave MC0153UW. I was boiling potatoes on the stove. The fan in the MagicChef turned on automatically, as mentioned in the manual. After a few minutes the whole MagicChef shut down - no sound, no lights. My circuit tester showed the circuit is good. I unplugged and replugged the unit a few times without effect.

The manual has a section "If noting (sic) on the oven operates," but it doesn't address this situation.

After about 15 minutes it beeped, its lights came on, and it wanted me to set the time. All normal after that. It's as if there is an internal breaker that finally reset. Nothing (or noting) about that in the manual.

The MagicChef website shown in the manual ([...]) has been taken over by somebody else. The phone number for service shown in the manual (800-553-4355) goes to a porn-phone-sex answering machine.

I've had this for a couple of years now, and have never had any sort of problem with it. It's easy to use and does its job perfectly. The keypad is easy to understand, although at first having the owner's manual helped. Food is warmed evenly and quickly, and the defrost function works well.

Ironically, this is the same over-the-range microwave that the apartment complex I work at uses in its rental units. In the year and a half I have worked there I have never known of one of the 400 installed microwaves to be replaced due to problems that are the fault of manufacturing defects or premature malfunctioning of any components. That's a great track record if you ask me!

I can't recommend a single thing about this microwave. All the plastic including the handle will break on these things (google Daewoo / Ewave / Magic Chef ((same company)) handle and you'll see how common this is). The programing is idiotic and doesn't have an instant start button. The cooking timer erases if you simultaneously try to microwave something. After hitting cook it takes a second before actually starting causing you to stop and think you didn't hit the start button. The lights on the bottom run so hot they have a very short life and are $7 a set every time you replace them.
