Product Description
Panasonic's Inverter Turbo Defrost technology allows you to defrost foods faster than previous Panasonic models. This design makes it possible to distribute microwave energy with the most appropriate combination of regularity and irregularity. The Keep Warm and Simmer features helps you keep your food warm until you are ready to eat so foods like stew, gravy and desserts remain warm in the oven. A pulsing delivery of very low microwave power keeps food temperature at a constant level without overcooking. Amazon.com Review
This average-sized microwave oven is perfect for reheating leftovers, defrosting meats or vegetables, or even cooking a main dish for the family. The oven measures 20-3/8 by 11-7/8 by 15-15/16 inches but is still fairly compact considering that much of that space can be attributed to the 1.2-cubic-foot interior. The oven operates on a powerful 1,300 watts for quicker cooking and defrosting and an attractive stainless-steel front and reflective door that looks appropriate in a professional-style kitchen.

A few improvements and conveniences move this fairly basic microwave up to the front of the pack. As part of Panasonic's Inverter Technology, the oven incorporates a linear power control for even heat distribution so frozen macaroni and cheese doesn't get hot around the perimeter and remain cold in the center during cooking and frozen chicken breasts don't cook around the edges during defrosting. An automatic reheat button gets leftovers tasting as delicious as when they were first prepared and a quick minute feature adds another minute on to give food a little extra cooking time. Another major innovation is a warming and simmering feature that delivers low-temperature heat to keep food such as pies, casseroles, or gravy warm without overcooking them. And, popcorn addicts will love the special button just for cooking microwave popcorn to perfection. This microwave oven is covered by Panasonic under a one-year limited warranty while the Magnetron tube has an extended warranty of up to five years. --Cristina Vaamonde

Summary: Bad 2009-05-30
Comment: The Panasonic 'inverter' microwave ovens are notoriously unreliable - try Googling for 'panasonic inverter microwave problems'. The inverter component board is prone to overheating (in an oven - go figure) and then failing within 1 - 2 years. Mine just turned itself into a giant paperweight after 2 years of very light use. I like the Panasonic brand as a whole (I consider their cordless phones to be pretty much flawless), but it amazes me that Panasonic continues to risk damaging their reputation by foisting this inept inverter technology on the unsuspecting public. Do yourselves a favor and stay away from these Panasonic inverter ovens.

Summary: Failure H98 2008-03-12
Comment: Product failed shortly after buying. Get about 10 seconds of power then H98 appears in screen and most of the buttons stopped working.

INCREDIBLY difficult to get money back. No replacement/exchange available. Customer service is designed to only function (maybe) for the most persistant. Most people, like me, give up.

Ended up throwing it away.

Won't buy Panasonic again. Not because of a faulty product but rather lack of customer support. Companies need to realize that customers pay the bills and they need to be taken care of.

Summary: shoddy and annoying 2007-12-10
Comment: Pros:

It's powerful and pretty.

Cons:

Mine died shortly after the warranty expired.

It has no number pad; you have to enter the cooking time by turning a knob. This seemed clever at first but turned out to be annoying because I could never quite get the hang of getting the time I wanted without a lot of fiddling. Would have been faster to just punch in numbers.

The "quick min" button is not all that quick. Unlike most microwaves you still have to hit "start" afterwards. This is evidently because the engineers could not figure out a way to add time while the oven is running (which is a problem all by itself).

The display is unreadable unless it is at eye level or above. Fine for a built-in over the stove or something, but this is a counter-top model...

Finally, I got to hate being told "ENJOY YOUR MEAL" every time I used it. Maybe that works for the Japanese, but not for me.

Did I mention it's pretty?

Summary: Good performance and looks... 2007-06-05
Comment: Takes some time to get used to the dial instead of a traditional keypad. I like it now that I use it but your guests (or Mother in Law) will be scratching their heads.

Summary: Worked fine for about 6 months 2007-04-10
Comment: This microwave worked fine for about 6 months, then quit. Warranty will repair it if I pay to ship it to an authorized repair center and then pay to ship it back. Not much value in that.
